3/5/2013 Darkness & Daemons, Invasion Cover
I've uploaded the first beta cover for Invasion. The Invasion volume is the complete collection of all 10 events and will be available in paperback and ebook once the 10th Event is released. I've already begun removing the individual events 1-5 from amazon, and lowered the Collection 1-5 to .99 cents till 3/10/2012 to help readers catch up on the series. Events 6-10 will remain .99 cents each. Once the collection 6-10 is out, the individual events will be removed shortly after. Invasion will be released in the coming weeks. Take a look and let me know what you think about the Beta cover... It's work in progress... so be kind! :)
3/3/2013 Darkness & Daemons, Volumes going forward
Beholder will be released sometime this week. It's in the final stages of editing. Once complete, it will be available for ebook download on various websites. Sorry about the delay, the stories are very time consuming and require a ton of thought on my part to insure the story is told the way it should be. Event 8, Disturbance should be out within a couple of weeks. Expect it soon. Likewise for 9 and 10 and the full Invasion volume.
Going forward. I'm on the fence as to whether or not to publish future Darkness & Daemons stories in individual events. I may remove all the singles and collections and just do the full volume going forward. The singles generated some interest, I'm sure, but the level of interest in the series has been very low to say the least so the original concept of it 'having readers following along with the story' never gained any real traction. For those who did follow along with each event, I thank you tremendously.
The original concept of single events was to have people follow along, comment, and perhaps change the fate and story, but none of that took place. With that said, I don't see the value in singles atm for the series going forward. In addition, it really slowed me down by doing it that way because so much extra work went into each event to insure the future events would come out as planned. It required a ton of forethought and predictive story telling and a ton of 'fact checking' to insure the story went as planned.
With that said, Onslaught most likely will be released in a single volume. If you'd like to weigh in, please leave a comment on the Darkness & Daemons book page. I'm very excited that the first volume is almost complete, and I hope it does well once out. My gut feeling tells me that once the volume is out, it will get a lot more attention. I felt readers would love reading along with short events as they came out, perhaps they do, perhaps it's just that I'm not very well known to really gain that kind of readership. Future stories, most likely, will be fully completed work.
If I do go with the full novel releases, the single events will 'magically disappear' over time.
2/18/2013 Darkness & Daemons, Event 7: Beholder
Beholder is just about ready to be released. I had hoped to have them all out faster, but they are very time consuming and moving slow. I wish I could devote 100% of my time to writing, but currently I can't. I do plan on having all 10 events out around April. It may push out a bit longer, but either way, the entire Invasion volume will be released within a few months at which point I will offer the full volume in ebook and paperback. I hope the sales increase at that point. It's hard to write every night without the 'money' motivator to help push me along. Honestly, I can't wait to finish this series and move on to other projects. It's been a very exciting writing experience, but without good sales it makes it tough to continue writing it. I really look forward to setting it aside for a while to build a reader base while I work on Cult of Tattoo the remainder of the year.
1/20/2013 DarkGate in 2013
It's been a while since my last post, but now that 2013 is here, it's time to get back to work! Since my last post, Beasts has been published and Beholder is next! Watch for it soon. As for the lengthy break, I took some time off, as usual, to break away from the ups and downs of the publishing world to enjoy the holiday season with family and to take some personal time to myself. Christmas was fun and spent with my grown children. New years was spent with my gf and family, and I spent a lot of time with friends.
Now for the 2013 lineup. This year DarkGate plans to take on a few new authors. We're looking for a handful of talented authors so that each author can be focused and cross-promoted. We don't want a ton of authors and become a book factory. We want just a few of the best to help promote, edit, format, and beta one another so that each has that extra edge on becoming successful. If interested, contact DarkGate through the sidebar links.
My personal goals set for this year is to finish up Darkness & Daemons within a couple of months. That means the remaining 4 Invasion stories will be coming out relatively quick compared to last years. After that is out, the rest of the year will be spent finishing Cult of Tattoo which hopefully will be published this year. Anyhow, that's the writing lineup. As for Darkness & Daemons, Onslaught will begin sometime this year. Exact dates are not certain at this moment due to the fact Cult of Tattoo is the priority. A lot depends on how well Invasion does this summer. That in itself will determine how fast Onslaught comes out. Slow or no sales obviously will not put a huge priority on it. Likewise, lots of sales with some great feedback and reviews will surely put a rush on it.
Now that I've stated the 2013 lineup, here are some exact dates I'd like to have them out by. If all goes as planned, Invasion should be complete by April 1st. Cult of Tattoo by November 1st. Onslaught begins in October, but this time around, I plan on releasing 1 per month rather than 1 per 2 month as was Invasion. Once again, that all depends on sales. I also have another story I'd like to finish, Fist Full of Chevy. I attempted to write it this past November, but my mind wasn't there with all the outside noise I was receiving. This year, I hope to finish it and have it released, but no dates are set for this nor do I have it in my lineup. That story is as time permits.
As for Burr Dismuke, she plans on writing more non-fiction. It's not DarkGate themed literature, but she's my mother so I'll let her slide. She's very talented and loves to paint, craft, and work with children. I suspect future work from her will deal with similar themes. As for now, she plans on reworking her current story.
11/25/2012 Countdown to Darkness & Daemons, BEASTS Starts NOW!
I've teased about it long enough, and for those who are looking forward to reading it, I actual have a pretty solid release date on it. It was a long, long story, and like other Events, I always predict they'll be easy, and they never are. There was a ton of stuff that needed to be tied into the story thus making it the biggest event released to date! You heard me, it's even longer than event 4. In addition, FLASHBACK stories are in it. You'll get a much better idea of what they are after you read the first one, but the name says it all, Flashback. Anyhow, I've revised and edited the story many times now, and now its off for editing. When I get it back, I make the changes and do final edits. After that, I typically send it out for test reads and that's it! It'll be published. I should have it up by next weekend. I've had one occasion where editing took a month, but I don't think that will happen, not this time around. So stay tuned.
11/19/2012 New Blog Post, Goodreads in the line of FIRE.
After the smoke cleared and the dust settled from my recent assault last month by a group of mad authors and trolls on amazon and goodreads. I did what I do best, I searched for a root cause. Not of my incident, but as to why it happens period. My findings were simple. I realize the amazon assault actually stemmed from Goodreads because the amazon BBA thread was created due to a group called BBA in Goodreads. With so many complaints and attacks on authors, it was clear that Goodreads supports these attacks. Wait... SUPPORT is a strong word, so let me rephrase that, they choose to ignore it. Amazon at least attempts to keep it civil through removing comments and monitoring reviews. I wouldn't call it a perfect system, but they at least attempt to do it. Though on the other hand, Goodreads ignores it all together. This lack of moderating has caused the growth of such groups. They enforce what Goodreads does not. Simple. Read my article here:

Check back regularly and help support small and local business by clicking the Community links. Share on facebook and twitter and with friends and family. Thanks.
11/03/2012 Caught In A Writing Cyclone
Currently I am working on (4) novels. Yes you heard that right.
Number 1. Darkness & Daemons Event #6. It's almost finished. Though, I would not expect to see it published for up to 2 more weeks. It still needs revisions and edits. One week min would be the soonest provided the edits go fast, but I wouldn't count on that.
Number 2. Fist Full Of Chevy. This is my NaNoWriMo novel. I will, by all means necessary, finish this novel before December 1st. That means I will be spending a TON of time on it once Darkness is finished up. Right now I'm switching between the two depending on which I'm in the mood to write. I'm already in the 3rd chapter of the story, and it's going pretty smooth due-to a ton of notes and a good outline.
Number 3. The Necro Device will be coming back to me with all the final edits which I will promptly update as soon as I get it. This will slow both the previous two novels down if I get it back soon. Luckily, this will be the LAST time I ever go back to that novel other than minor typo's if any are spotted. This will remove a lot of stress. I can't wait to finish this one up.
Number 4. Cult Of Tattoo. Yes, i'm working on it, but the time invested into it atm is very minimal. I only write more for this when I'm overly excited about it and have to get words onto paper before I forget them. Mainly, I'm still focusing on just updating the outline for it. Beginning chapters have been written, and it looks really, really good. I can't wait to come back to it, but this is on the back burner probably till sometime after 2013. My main focus is to get the previous 3 done so I can give this all the attention it deserves. I also would like to complete the full Invasion volume of Darkness & Daemons before I work on this as well. This novel was going to be written this year, but too much was happening in my life for me to give it the attention it required. In 2013, I plan on this title to be my big release sometime by the end of the summer or November, right when Darkness & Daemons Onslaught will start coming out.
Basically, there's a lot of fun, great reads coming your way. Keep an eye out for new releases by M.T. Dismuke and DarkGate over the next few months.
